Studio Toriumi
A reference list of consumer EEG headsets, sleep trackers and neurofeedback devices. The organising question is simple and rarely asked: what signal does this hardware actually record, and what is the marketing extrapolating from it? Companion to BCI WATCH, for people who want to try the hardware rather than read about it.
Open the reference JANumber of electrodes, placement, sampling rate, and whether raw data is accessible. A device that won't give you the raw signal cannot be independently checked, and that is treated as a mark against it.
Focus scores, meditation depth, sleep stages. Where a claim is a derived index rather than a measurement, it is labelled as one.
OpenBCI and comparable open platforms are listed ahead of closed consumer products, because reproducibility is worth more than polish here.
Product links are Amazon affiliate links, marked as such, with the required disclosure on the page. What gets listed is decided independently of commission.
Device names, specifications and manufacturer documentation are in English. The commentary is currently Japanese. A full English edition is planned.
We don't machine-translate pages and publish them as if they were written in English. When an English edition exists, it has been written in English. Until then, this page tells you honestly what is on the other side of the link.
